As the summer fades

and the heated haze of

wonder drifts into the colors

of Earth’s next breath

Remember how you

spent those nights

being driven by the music

that loves you

You work the days

and the night beckons

like a call to reawaken

from mindlessness

The music wants you back

You get out on the Boulevard

& look downtown

you see the skyscrapers

reaching up out of

the Earth

And straight down the street

your eyes meet the sky

above the horizon

You can now see the moon

a giant blood orange orb

presiding over the outstretched

arms of the skyscrapers

And if you look closely

you can see the

well worn grooves

in the ancient surface

Slowly spinning while

those giant light tipped

fingers grasp

the darkness of the night sky

The city breathes the house

beat pulse of your heart

Looks like one of those nights

one of those nights you feel like getting down
